Mark Canning is a noted Asian specialist. He has served twice in Indonesia, most recently as British Ambassador and as Britain’s Permanent Representative to the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). He has also served as British Ambassador to Myanmar and as Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia.

Mark’s four decades in the Diplomatic Service also included an assignment as British Ambassador to Zimbabwe and a range of other senior roles within the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, in London and overseas.

At Bell Pottinger he will work closely with the company’s senior management team in Asia, led by the regional Chairman, Piers Pottinger, and the Asia CEO, Shih-Huei Ang.

A central part of Mark Canning’s 14 years of diplomatic experience in Asia has involved advising companies on how to successfully negotiate challenging political, regulatory and commercial environments. He has been involved in major investments in a variety of sectors including energy, mining and manufacturing.

In keeping with its Meaningful Brands proposition, Havas Media Group’s mobile marketing brand Mobext Singapore has partnered with WWF- Malaysia to develop an innovative fund raising campaign that aims to raise funds for Malaysia’s tiger conservation efforts.

Called “Help Fund the Wildlife Warriors”, the campaign uses a tweet to donate platform to process donations. The platform works in three easy steps and requires donors to connect to their Twitter account, compose their tweet using a given hashtag and then sync their credit card to the tweet and post. Each of the three different hashtags namely #ilovetigers #savethetiger #savewildlife carry a value of 25, 50 and 100 MYR respectively. When users go on twitter and tweet any of these hashtags, the relevant amount is charged to the donor’s credit card.

The campaign targeted at digitally savvy Malaysians, launched on 15th September will run for six months, and will be promoted via WWF-Malaysia and Havas Media Group channels as well as public relations efforts.

The wild Malayan tiger population could be as few as 250 and WWF-Malaysia’s key efforts are focussed on protecting the tigers from the threat of poaching. At the forefront of its conservation efforts are Wildlife Warriors, or experienced field biologists, who battle difficult challenges in their conservation quest to help save the Malayan tigers.

Mobext plans to roll out the 'tweet to donate' platform for other charity organisations and enable them to plug-in and use this unique donation mechanism.

In this role, Rachel will pilot product development and strategy, specific to the company's rapidly growing shopper marketing division.

Rachel brings nearly a decade of experience to Yieldbot, which encompasses several roles across shopper marketing, analytics and logistics with major international consumer packaged goods brands. Most recently, she was shopper marketing manager for Starbucks Coffee Company, responsible for leveraging shopper insights to develop and execute strategic marketing plans for the entire Starbucks packaged coffee portfolio at Walmart, Sam's Club and HEB.

Previously, Rachel operated in several analytics and logistics roles across Starbucks and Nestle Purina, working to identify and capitalize upon key industry and category trends as well as implement strategic customer business plans.

 


 

JKPTSS, Inc., a mission critical data center and technology services company, announced the appointement of John K. Penver as Chief Financial Officer.

Mr. Penver will lead all finance, accounting, HR, IT and administrative functions for TSS and will report directly to Anthony Angelini, President and Chief Executive Officer of TSS. He has been acting as the Interim Chief Financial Officer of TSS since July 2, 2014.

Mr. Penver was the Chief Financial Officer of Fallbrook Technologies, Inc., a privately held manufacturer of mechanical transmission systems and technologies and prior to that, the Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary of Active Power, Inc., a manufacturer of uninterruptible power systems and modular infrastructure solutions for data centers. He has also held a number of senior financial leadership positions at Silicon Gaming, Inc., Factory Logic, Inc. and Deloitte & Touche LLP in the United States and Australia.
