             Dear Reader,

             Skeptics foresee the demise of the brick-and-mortar shop due to the convenience of online shopping,
             but this impression is misleading. Retailers can give their businesses a new impetus by optimizing the
             buying experience with some help from new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).

             Indeed, one thing is for sure, what we have experienced so far in terms of digitization gives us only a
             taste of what’s coming. That’s why we focus this month on the possibilities and necessary technologies
             and solutions to successfully sell online, besides looking into how to use marketing budgets in a most
             targeted and efficient manner.

             Hence, we give insights into the transformation of online players, highlight changes to the customer
             journey and customer communication, besides presenting some trends and new technologies in digital
             marketing.
